FAQ
Frequently asked questions about how SearchClean works.
SearchClean builds a search query for you using standard search operators like -site:. These tell search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo) to exclude results from specific websites.
This filters common AI keywords and known AI content sites, reducing tool directories, prompt pages, and low-quality generated content.
It won’t remove all AI content, but it removes the most obvious repetitive results.
No. SearchClean does not modify results. It generates a cleaner query and opens it in your chosen search engine.
Not all low-quality content can be filtered using search operators. Many pages do not clearly identify themselves, so some will still appear.
SearchClean focuses on removing the most common and frustrating sources of clutter.
If you apply too may filters, you may remove useful sources.
Try adjusting some of your filters or customising individual sites to fine-tune your results.
Yes. You can:
- Select entire categories
- Open a category and toggle individual sites
- Add your own domains in "Custom exclude sites"
- Narrow your search to a specific site or multiple sites in "Only search this site"
SearchClean uses your browser timezone (e.g. Europe/London) to determine your region and apply relevant domains like amazon.co.uk.
If you are using a VPN, your browser timezone may not match your actual location.
In this case, SearchClean may apply the wrong regional domains or fall back to default (.com) sites.
It wraps your query in quotes to force exact phrase matching.
SearchClean works with all major search engines, Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing and Yahoo. All of these support the -site: operator used to filter results.
